What kind of medications are usually prescribed for Rosacea and how does it help.?

I saw my allergy doctor yesterday and he said that he thinks I have Rosacea. He recommended me to see a dermatologist next month. Im trying to get an idea of what kind of meds he will put me on so i know what to expect to be paying for my prescriptions.

i have rosacea and i have been put on metrogel.1% cream.if its not covered by your insurance,it cost about $80.00 for a 60 gram tube which last about 4 months.you can do a web search for metrogel and read about it and how much it cost.also,do a web search for FACE DOCTOR SOAP and read about how that helps rosacea.good luck

  1. Usually a dermatologist will order a metronidazole cream. I don’t think it’s very expensive. There’s a really good article on rosacea on Wikipedia. Good luck.

Metrogel or Metrocream for a topical application and then oral antibiotics. Both have generics so it’s pretty cheap (relatively speaking). Some prescribe a special cleanser but it irritated the heck out of my skin so I stopped using it.
