What is the difference between Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid and other Acne Treating Chemicals?

I would like to know what the difference is between the different acne clearing chemicals and ingrediants like Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.

BP kills the acne bacteria off. Salicylic acid clear pores and causes skin to shred more quickly
