How can you tell the difference between acne and acne scars?

I have these brown spots all over my hair line and they are slightly raised but it doesn’t hurt to touch i also have small red spots again slightly raised but no pain or liquid are they scars or acne? i do have acne as well but what are these?
i also have ones that looks to be indented :/ but don’t feel like it-it feels soft and i don’t feel my skin going into a crater
